Kulla Laas (b. 1991) is a freelance curator, art and educational worker who lives and works in Tallinn. She studied photography and fine arts at the Estonian Academy of Arts (BA, 2013 and MA, 2017), completed her studies at the Emily Carr University of Art Design in Vancouver, Canada (2014) and has been working as a lecturer at the Estonian Academy of Arts since 2015. Laas has mainly curated exhibitions of contemporary photographic art and artists’ film. Between 2013 and 2017 she was one of the organizers of Rundum artist-run space and has also managed the Photo and Video Studio at the Department of Photography, the photography curriculum for the Open Academy and organized Portfolio Café events at the Estonian Academy of Arts. In 2017 and 2019, Laas was the coordinator of public programming for the contemporary art biennial Tallinn Photomonth, and from 2021 she is the artistic director of the biennial. Since 2020, Laas has been the project manager for the Estonian Union of Photography Artists (FOKU) and is a member of its board.
