Piibe Kolka (b. 1986, Tartu) is an artist, filmmaker and filmworker with a background in anthropology. She is working with video, sound, and performance and drawn to artists’ moving image as a personal enquiry into the bodily, temporal and rhythmic aspects of social realities. She has studied anthropology at Tallinn University  (BA 2010, MA 2015) and documentary and experimental film making at The New School in New York (MA 2014) and worked as an editor and cinematographer on documentaries, fiction and artist films in Estonia and in New York. Kolka has curated artist film programs at Kumu Art Museum and NART art residency and lead workshops and seminars on experimental film. Most recently she is interested in the spatial and sensorial aspects of expanded cinema and working on an experimental documentary with Andy Männik – one of the founders of The Kitchen art space in New York City. She is one of the curators of the art film program of Tallinn Photomonth 2023.
