The Artists’ Moving Image Programme “Trial and Error” took place part of the Estonian culture festival “Estonia Now” and aimed to introduce Estonian culture on an international scale. The festival was proposed and co-produced by the Estonian Embassy in London, as part of the Estonian Republic centenary celebrations.

The pieces screened at the exhibition “Trial and Error” fell within a thematic framework of everydayness and human attempts in coping with it. In a variety of ways, the selected works opened up daily life and simple routines, but all with a constant tension vibrating in the background. The potential for failure is permanently present, but to live and grow means at once to connect error to trial, again and again.

A curatorial tour for the programme took place on Monday, 12 November at 3pm.

“Trial and Error” was accompanied by a TalkSeePhotography event, “Contemporary Love”, at CCA Glasgow on Monday, 12 November. A screening of artists’ short films curated by multidisciplinary artist Marge Monko (EST) was followed by a discussion event moderated by the Glasgow based video artist Stina Wirfelt.

The programme was organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture of Estonia and the Estonian Embassy in London, the Cultural Endowment of Estonia, CCA Glasgow and TalkSeePhotography. Co-produced by Tramway.
