What is FOKU?
FOKU brings together Estonian artists whose work has a strong focus on photography. FOKU is the initiator of Tallinn Photomonth contemporary art biennial and the Estonian Photographic Art Fair (now Foto Tallinn).
Why a gallery and why a pop-up?
FOKU collaborates with museums, galleries and other art organisations in Estonia and abroad to promote contemporary photographic art and introduce Estonian artists’ internationally.
We have always found a friendly borrowed roof for our projects when needed. However, there is not a single meeting of FOKU members where we do not dream of our very own showroom and project space. Anyone who has ever been involved in gallery work knows well how much time, money and brainpower a space itself tends to absorb. Thanks to our cooperation with the founder of Rüki gallery, we will have the opportunity this November and December to test whether and how a space can support our activities and goals.
