Eve Kiiler Geometries of Growth Spaces

In Geometries of Growth Spaces, Eve Kiiler explores the shared space between humans and plants as a process of co-growth, linking the city with the surrounding landscape. Plant communities take centre stage in her latest photographic series, which ranges from portraits of individual plants to group compositions and documentary-style images that place them within their spatial context.

 

The photographs capture urban gardens where every square meter is carefully structured through strict geometries, alongside in-between landscapes and more freely designed gardens where diverse plant communities converge. The exhibition Geometries of Growth Spaces brings together views from Kadriorg, Mähe, Veerenni and Tiskre, and also from Viljandi and Stockholm. 

 

Eve Kiiler’s practice focuses on observing the contemporary urban environment, highlighting a personal perspective on public space. Her work documents the quiet transformations of urban life, paying attention to everyday environments and moments that are specific to a particular time and place. Presented in series, Kiiler’s works unfold like urban short stories or visual micro-dramas. She is also drawn to the edges of the city—areas that often fall outside traditional architectural photography.

 

The exhibition will remain open until 13 June 2026.

 

 

Eve Kiiler (b. 1960)

is an artist, curator, lecturer, and an active advocate for photography as a medium. Her work focuses on changes in urban landscapes and public space, as well as on observing visitors in museums and exhibition settings.

Her solo exhibitions include Urban Observations: Fenced Garden City (2016), Looking through the Windows (2018), Old and New Neighbours (2019), Location Scouting by the Sea (2020), All Roads Lead to the Sea (2021) and Alone in the City (2022), all of which explore urban environments in Tallinn and other Estonian cities.

Kiiler is currently a lecturer at the Baltic Film, Media and Arts School at Tallinn University. Her works are held in the collections of the Art Museum of Estonia, the Museum of Estonian Architecture and the Museum of Contemporary Photography at Columbia College Chicago.
